SUMMARY:Integrating Public Health into Climate Adaptation and Resilience Projects
DESCRIPTION:Speakers:Diane Mas\, PhD\, REHS/RS\, Chief Resilience & Sustainability Officer\, Fuss & O'Neill and Janan Reilly\, MS\, Senior Resilience Project Manager\, Fuss & O'NeillClimate change is intensifying natural hazards and creating interconnected risks across infrastructure systems\, the natural environment\, and public health. While engineers often focus on the impacts of natural hazards like flooding\, heat and wildfire on community infrastructure\, these hazards also have significant impacts to public health and safety. Considering and including the impacts of climate change on public health can add value to many climate adaptation resilience projects and be a differentiator when considering community impacts. Dr. Diane Mas will introduce the intersection of public health and climate adaptation work and explain how to frame public health issues for climate adaptation and resilience projects. Diane will provide examples of adaptation solutions with health co-benefits\, and how these projects can align with multiple community priorities and goals. Janan Reilly will provide a project example in Fitchburg\, MA and discuss the goals of the project\, how it was funded\, and the project outcomes. Janan and Diane will also discuss how to frame public health and climate adaptation projects in the current federal landscape\, and how to expand project partners and reach. Registration Deadline: Friday\, May 15\, 2026Information/Registration: Register to attend this webinar and pay by credit card online or request an invoice by clicking Register.
